FAQs
Giclée printing
Is my artwork suitable for Giclée Printing?
If you have a high resolution image of your artwork then yes, absolutely. Giclée printing is suitable for artists / illustrators / graphic designers / photographers - anyone wanting to make high quality reproductions of their artwork.
What's the minimum order quantity for Giclee Prints?
We don't have a minimum (or maximum) order quantity, you can order as little as one print at a time.
What is Giclée printing?
Good question! Giclée printing is a high-quality digital printing process used for reproducing fine art or photography. The term "giclée" is derived from the French word gicler, meaning "to spray," which refers to the method of spraying ink onto the paper or canvas.
These advanced inkjet printers spray pigment-based archival inks onto premium materials such as cotton rag papers and canvas.
Renowned for its precision, vibrant colour range, and durability, giclée printing produces museum-quality results that closely replicate the original artwork. With resolutions exceeding 1200 DPI, these prints are highly detailed and fade-resistant, making them ideal for limited editions and long-lasting prints.
How big can you print?
Our machines can print just over 1 meter wide by around 12-15 meters in length.
What file type should my artwork be?
We're currently just accepting PDFs. They need to be a high resolution file of 300dpi. - No 72dpi files please, those are only suitable for the web!
How should I look after my Giclée Print?
Avoid Direct Sunlight
Keep the print away from direct sunlight, as prolonged exposure can cause fading, even with archival inks.
Handle with Care
Always handle the print by its edges, using clean, dry hands or cotton gloves, to avoid smudges or oils transferring to the surface. Avoid touching the printed area...especially areas of black!
Framing
For the best protection Giclée prints should be framed behind glass or acrylic with acide free mounts (if you're using one) to protect against light, dust, and humidity.
Store Safely
If unframed, store the print flat in a protective acid-free folder or keep it rolled in acid free tissue paper in it's tube.
Limited & Open Editions
What is a limited edition?
A limited print edition is a set number of copies of an artwork or photograph that an artist or photographer creates. Once all the prints in the edition are made, no more will be produced, making them collectable and often more valuable. Each print is usually numbered (e.g., 1/50) and signed/stamped by the artist to show it’s part of that limited edition. For added authentication a COA usually acommpanies each print.
Can I release my artwork as an open edition and still have COAs?
Yes of course. COAs can be sent alongside a print whether it's limited or open edition. When we send you the form to gather the info we need to design your COAs, there will be an option to choose if you're setting up a limited or open edition.
What is an AP?
An AP (Artist Proof) is a special version of a print made during the printing process to check the quality, colours, and details before creating the main edition.
These proofs are usually kept by the artist, separate from the numbered limited edition prints, and are often considered more rare and valuable because of their connection to the artist's personal approval process.
